Zhang Yang nicolezyyy@163.com DRONES produced by DJI, a world-leading drone maker based in Shenzhen, got the highest scores in a comparative test conducted by the Shenzhen Consumer Council to compare the quality of nine consumer drones from six brands, according to a report released by the council Thursday. The test was guided by International Consumer Research and Testing (ICRT), a global consortium of more than 35 consumer organizations dedicated to carrying out joint research and testing in the consumer’s interest. As a member of ICRT, the Shenzhen Consumer Council selected nine drones from six brands, including two overseas brands — GoPro from the United States and Parrot from France — for the test. The report shows that DJI’s Mavic Pro tops the ranking as the only five-star drone in the test. DJI’s two other drones — Spark Fly More Combo and Phantom 3 Standard — rank second and third, respectively. In the flying test, DJI’s Mavic Pro got the highest score of 4.7, followed by its Phantom 3 Standard with a score of 4.6. In the camera test, Mavic Pro ranked first with a score of 4.8 and Spark Fly More Combo got the second-highest score of 4.6. Parrot’s drone Bebop 2 FPV ranked first in the battery test with a score of 4, as it takes 60 minutes to fully charge the battery, the second-fastest among the nine drones, and its battery can be used for 24.7 minutes, the longest among the nine drones. GoPro’s drone KARMA got the highest score of 4.8 in the multifunction test due to its easy installation and the fast connection between the drone and its phone app. Xiaomi’s Mi Drone 4K scored the highest in the safety test as it can automatically make a return flight when its battery is low or it loses contact with the controller. It also has an anti-invasion function and propeller protection device, according to the report. According to the council, first-time drone pilots are required to complete real-name registration before flying a drone in China. The council said drone users should pay attention to the no-fly zones in different cities and shouldn’t retrofit their drones or fly them after drinking alcohol. |
