Courier complaints

THE city’s postal service administration received 13,954 valid complaints in 2017 over express delivery services, a drop of 6.55 percent over 2016.

The number of valid complaints per million parcels dropped by 26.34 percent, compared to the previous year.

Among the complaints, delays and lost or damaged parcels ranked at the top.

Weather forecast

THE weather Friday is cloudy and foggy along the coast in the morning and evening. Over the weekend, the weather is partly cloudy with some visible sunlight.

There will be a thunderstorm between Monday and Tuesday. Temperatures will drop between Tuesday and Wednesday.

As the temperature change will be large, citizens are advised to keep warm to ward off illness.

Bus lanes

FROM Tuesday to Sept. 10, vehicles are prohibited from using bus lanes on working days from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Vehicles are prohibited from using bus lanes from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on certain sections of Shennan Road and Hongli Road. On Lianhua Road and Liantangwei No. 1 Road, non-bus vehicles are not allowed to use bus lanes all day.

Unlicensed driving

A MAN, who was found driving without a license, brandished an axe at the police after he was given a ticket on Yihai Road in Yantian District on Monday afternoon.

The man, surnamed Ou, was asked to pull over for a routine inspection by the traffic police. It turned out that he was driving without a driver’s license. When a police officer issued him a ticket, he became very emotional, pulled an axe out of the trunk and threatened to hack the police.

The man was eventually controlled by the officers. He is being held under administrative detention for 10 days and was fined 500 yuan (US$79) for impeding law enforcement.

Truck impounded

A TRUCK driver was fined for covering up his license plate on a road in Longgang District on Monday afternoon.

The truck didn’t have a license plate and when the police officers intercepted the vehicle, the empty license plate disappeared.

It turned out that the truck had two license plates, which were manipulated by the driver using a wire to evade the road camera. The truck was impounded, and the driver was fined and had 12 points added to his license.
