A night of quartet pieces
    2018-03-16  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Four Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra musicians will present a night of classical quartet pieces at Shenzhen Grand Theater on Friday night.

Performed by violinist Chang Ching-ting, violinist Yin Hang, viola player Jin Zhenhong and cellist Karen Kocharyan, the concert will feature Haydn’s “String Quartet, Op. 76, No. 3,” Schubert’s “Quartettsatz, D 703” and Shostakovich’s “String Quartet No. 8.”

“String Quartet, Op. 76, No. 3” is best known as “Emperor” because in the second movement, there is a set of variations on “God Save Emperor Francis,” an anthem he wrote for Emperor Francis II. This same melody is known to modern listeners for its later use in the German national anthem.

Time: 8 p.m., March 16

Tickets: 50-180 yuan

Venue: Shenzhen Grand Theater, 5018 Shennan Road East, Luohu District (罗湖区深南东路5018号深圳大剧院)
