Rooftop driving

A DRIVER training school was recently closed for training drivers on the rooftop of a seven-floor building in Luohu District.

The law enforcement unit of the city’s transport commission received a report and a video clip showing the driving coaches teaching driving lessons on a parking garage near the International Trade building in Luohu.

The roof, at about 22 meters above the ground, is about 800 square meters and surrounded by a 1.5-meter-tall concrete wall. The training school admitted their illegal training practices and promised to arrange for students to learn at a safe training location.

Tunnel closed

THE Leigongshan Tunnel will be half closed to traffic until April 28, and vehicles to Dapeng Peninsula are advised to take a detour.

Reinforcement work is needed for the tunnel, which has been in use for decades, said the authority.

Between Thursday and April 4, the section of the tunnel from Kuichong to Dapeng will be closed. Between April 8 and 28, the section in the opposite direction will be closed to traffic, according to a notice of the Shenzhen transport commission.

Talent introduction

SHENZHEN introduced 233,700 talents, including college graduates, in 2017, an increase of 35 percent over previous year, the city’s human resources and social security bureau said last week.

Among them, 144,800 have bachelor’s degrees or higher and 90 percent were under the age of 35.

Most of them were in the fields of computer science, accounting, electronic information, machinery manufacturing and finance. Large enterprises with their headquarters in Shenzhen, such as Huawei, Tencent, Foxconn BYD and ZTE, are still the major employers driving talent introduction.
