Banks fined for breaches in payment, clearing rules
    2018-03-19  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE central bank has fined a branch of China Minsheng Banking Corp. a sum of 163.1 million yuan (US$25.79 million), and Ping An Bank a sum of 13.34 million yuan, for violating payment and clearing rules, it said Friday.

The central bank added that it would step up regulation on the payment and clearing market and punish future violations severely.

Violations of related laws and regulations will lead to severe punishment, according to the central bank.

The banks, Minsheng Bank’s Xiamen branch and Ping An Bank, have violated rules concerning the management of clearing, management of yuan settlement accounts and payment services by non-financial institutions, the People’s Bank of China said on its website without any elaboration.
