Students run book bar on campus
    2018-03-21  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

深圳第二实验学生开校园书吧

Offering fresh ground coffee together with a comfortable environment for reading, a book bar run by students recently opened on the campus of Shenzhen No.2 Experimental School.

From the planning to the naming, and from interior arrangements to daily operations, the book bar is completely run by students. Even the CEO, Chen Zitong, is a student. Chen said that she obtained her position after winning an election through her school’s High School Campus Management of Students Club.

She led a team of three girls from Class Two Senior One and named the book bar “Star Spark.” A number of teams from the High School Campus Management of Students Club campaigned to win the rights to manage the popular book bar.

Student organizations including the student-led government and the Student Discussion Panel, will assess the operation of the book bar on a regular basis as well as consider reelections for the position of CEO and the rights to management.

This type of model mimics real market operations and will give students an opportunity to accumulate hands-on experience in business management, and will cultivate an awareness of competition and teamwork, thus helping them in their future careers.

At the opening ceremony of the book bar, many students came and tasted fresh ground coffee made by Chen. Chen said that she would lead the team to serve the teachers and students to the best of her abilities. She has already outlined a future development plan for the book bar.

Currently, the book bar offers different flavors of coffee and other beverages. Gradually, it will provide other services too, such as holding book lovers events and birthday parties.
