SZ ranks 1 in intelligent hardware, software
    2018-03-27  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

MORE than 70 percent of all intelligent hardware in China is made in Shenzhen, and the industrial added value of the city’s telecommunications equipment manufacturing industry reached 473.6 billion yuan (US$75 billion), according to a report on Shenzhen’s IT development.

According to Liang Yong-sheng, head of Shenzhen Science and Technology Commission, which released the report at the China IT Summit on Sunday, the industrial output of Shenzhen’s electronic information and manufacturing industries reached 1.82 trillion yuan in 2017, an increase of 11.4 percent over the previous year. The software revenue reached 594.2 billion yuan, an increase of 14.2 percent. The total output of the city’s IT industry accounts for 10 percent of China’s total.

Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen are the leading cities in China in industrial innovation. The high-tech industrial belt around the Pearl River Delta area has become the largest, fastest-growing area for electronic information production and export.

“Shenzhen is a well-known software city and the base of China’s software export. Its software revenue ranks No. 2 among Chinese cities, and its computer game industry is leading China,” Liang told those attending.

A total of 21 Shenzhen enterprises have been listed among the China Top 100 Electronic Information Enterprises. The market share of Huawei and ZTE mobile terminals continues to rise.

Another report on China’s IT industry showed the revenue of China’s electronic information manufacturing industry in 2017 exceeded 13.6 trillion yuan, an increase of 13.2 percent, and the revenue of software and information services reached 5.5 trillion yuan in 2017, an increase of 13.9 percent over the previous year.
