Last week, Tang Ying, the English teacher of another class, came to observe our class for her research project. She is doing research on English learning strategies. Our teacher Chen Yan taught us a new strategy for memorizing new words. It was an unforgettable experience.

First, the students were divided into eight groups that competed against each other. Every one was actively involved in the game.

At the beginning of the class, we had a competition of reading aloud new words. The first student who stood up and read the word correctly would win a point for his or her team.

Then, we played a game with the new words. The game helped us understand the words and learn how to use them. It was a good way to learn English.

Lastly, we wrote a story using 10 of the new words we had just learned. When we finished writing, Tang pointed out our mistakes and taught us to correct them.

My classmates wrote creative stories.

I was nervous when I was chosen to share our group’s story, but I tried to pull myself together and read what we had written loudly. My classmates and the teachers applauded to encourage me.

My group became one of the winners. After the class, the teacher gave us a prize.

We not only learned new words by making sentences and stories, but also became more courageous in speaking English. After class, we all felt very happy and talked about this interesting class. We can’t wait to attend the next English lesson!
