Sun Denglin Once upon a time, there lived two families. One was strong named Yang, and the other was weak named Ying. In order to kill the weak neighbor, the strong man Yang made a vicious plan. In one early morning, the weak man was still in bed, when he heard a bird speaking, “Someone is dead. The dead body is leaning against the backdoor.” The weak man got up quickly and went to his backdoor, and a dead body really did fall down into the room after the weak man opened his backdoor. Soon, the strong man brought local officers before the weak man and claimed that the dead one was his servant. “No doubt he was killed by Ying,” said the strong man to the local officers. Thus the weak man Ying was taken away by the officers. When he was on trial, he pled not guilty. The officer and the judge did not rejected the weak man’s statement, but released him. The next morning, the officer and the judge went to the weak man’s house, and asked him what he had heard that early morning. The weak man told them he had heard a bird speaking, “It tastes so good, but salty.” The judge smiled and said, “Well done, fellow. You are now free of punishment.” Then they took away the strong man Yang and he was arrested. Why so? As matter of fact, a bowl of rice meal with lots of salt was placed on the top of the weak man’s house earlier that night. |
