¥5.5b invested in water improvement

SHENZHEN will invest 5.5 billion yuan (US$876.4 million) in 2018 to push forward water improvement projects, including the construction of pipelines and sewage treatment plants.


The sewage plant projects, 10 in total, will cost 921 million yuan, sznews.com reported.


The quality improvement project of Luofang Water Purification Plant will complete four production lines by the end of April and the water quality of Nanshan Water Purification Plant will reach A-level, the highest, after renovation.


The main project at Honghu Water Purification Plant will be completed by the end of December, and renovation work on Binhe Water Purification Plant will start in September and is expected to be completed before the end of 2019.


Bao’an District will spend 4.8 billion yuan to improve the water environment in the Greater Airport Area, which covers 111 square kilometers.


The water environment improvement in the Greater Airport Area covers Shajing, Fuyong, Fuhai, Hangcheng and Xinqiao subdistricts.


It involves 21 projects including 10 river treatment projects running 34.38 kilometers in total and four water treatment pipeline projects totaling 443 kilometers.


At a ceremony Wednesday, Bao’an District kick started six projects including one pipeline project and five river treatment projects. Another 14 projects will start before the end of this month.


According to the district’s water resources bureau, blackened rivers will be eliminated before the end of the year and the water quality of the rivers will reach category V by the end of 2019.
