Futian has literature academy
    2018-04-20  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

LOTUS Hill Literature Academy, the first district-level literature academy in China, settled in Futian District on March 31 and was officially inaugurated at the Futian Cultural Hall during the fourth congressional session of the Futian District Writers Association.

Qin Jinping, chairman of the Futian District Writers’ Association, was appointed head of the academy. The academy also invited well-known writer Jia Pingwa, vice president of the China Writers’ Association, as the honorary advisor as well as Ye Xin and Zhang Wei, vice presidents of the China Writers’ Association, to attend as advisors.

Also in attendance were chief editors from 20 literary journals and media groups including People’s Literature, Beijing Literature and Shanghai Literature. The academy strives to support literature generation and dissemination, promote rising talents and establish a platform for fans of literature in the district.

The Futian District Writers Association has now inaugurated 652 members in total, and it embraced 60 new members at the latest meeting. All new members took part in an activity called “Start off from spring: recitation of Futian poetry and prose” and expressed their good wishes for the academy to embark on a journey from a new starting point.

Xiong Guoxiong, minister of the Publicity Department of Futian District Committee of the CPC, said, “The birth of the Lotus Hill Literature Academy implies that the first district-level literature academy is established in China, which has become another innovative move by Shenzhen Special Economic Zone.” He also expressed his hope for the academy to absorb more social elites from all walks of life, write more stories about Futian and build a new image of Shenzhen for the world to see.

In recent years, the Futian District Writers Association carried out a series of literature activities, established 7 creation bases and organized volunteer teams. It is also devoted to providing public welfare services like organizing literature activities for the disabled, giving public lectures and establishing more creation bases.
