MORE than 2,500 government-subsidized apartments will be provided to employees of outstanding enterprises or social organizations in Futian this year, Xu Wei, head of the Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau of Futian District, said at a work report meeting to the deputies of the Futian District People’s Congress on March 6. These apartments will be part of the 4,700 subsidized flats the district government plans to build or acquire in 2018. He added that the shantytown reconstruction projects are being implemented, including the eastern and western blocks of Huafucun, Fu’an Community and the Xiangmi’ercun. This year the bureau will invest 436 million yuan in these projects. After renovation, a total of 382,900 square meters of apartments will be provided to eligible talents. Heads of Futian government departments including Economic Promotion Bureau, Housing and Urban-Rural Development and Health and Family Planning Bureau also attended the meeting and released their key work plans for 2018. After hearing the report, deputies raised questions regarding affordable housing construction projects, policies to support the supply chain industry and public health service, of which subsidized housing was a top concern. According to the meeting, the Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau of Futian District will further promote the construction of existing affordable housing projects, such as Yumingdu Residential Community. Eight percent of China’s supply chain enterprises are in Shenzhen and 80 percent of Shenzhen’s supply chain enterprises are based in Futian. Deputies were concerned how the district will give full play to this advantage and promote the development of the industry. Wang Xiaoping, head of the Economic Promotion Bureau of Futian District, said that Futian plans to spare government properties to build headquarters for international supply chain companies and to set up investment funds for the supply chain industry, establish an alliance for the supply chain and financial industries and offer financial supports, such as loans with discounted interest. Dong Hongwei, head of the Health and Family Planning Bureau of Futian District, said this year Futian will further implement the contract service of family doctors, promote the construction of community health service centers in the district and work harder to make sure that every subdistrict in Futian has at least one community health service center. Yang Xiangning, director of the Standing Committee of the Futian District People’s Congress, also attended the meeting and praised the government departments for accepting supervision from the deputies.
