Shenzhen Yadi School shines in science innovation education
    2018-05-09  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

深圳亚迪学校小创客带“新能源清扫船”项目进省青少年环保科技创意大赛决赛

The finals for the fifth Guangdong Environmental Science and Technology Creative Competition, organized by the Guangdong Environmental Protection Department, were recently held at Sun Yat-Sen University, receiving a total of 271 works from 12 cities in the province.

The young makers of Shenzhen Yadi School entered with their project “New-energy Clean Ship,” as the only team from Shenzhen in the finals, and ultimately won the first-place prize among all junior high school teams.

The competition aimed at cultivating the creative abilities of Guangdong youth to address environmental issues and build a platform for Guangdong youth to exchange with their counterparts on environmental protection in the international community.

The judges for the preliminary contest and the experts of the School of Environmental Science and Engineering at Sun Yat-Sen University evaluated all the projects based on various aspects, including whether they make breakthroughs compared with traditional concepts and whether the proposed solutions are humane. Ten primary schools, 10 junior high schools and 10 senior high schools competed in the final rounds.

Four young makers from Shenzhen Yadi School including Hua Lei, Tao Zihang, Feng Jindong and Ouyang Yichen won the first-place prize with their project “New-energy Clean Ship” in the junior high school category. Their project has also won the nomination from the Zayed Future Energy Prize, the worldwide “Oscar” of the energy field on January 15 this year.

With science and technology education as a driving force for the development of the school, Shenzhen Yadi School has carried out curriculum reform in a bold and innovative manner, obtaining remarkable results.
