Reading

Shenzhen Book Club’s reading consultant Deng Feng, who reads more than 100 books a year, will share his reading method. Entry is free.

Why should we read books? Why don’t I learn anything from reading? Deng will answer all your questions on the subject.

Deng will also introduce how to better retain information from books and discuss examples of putting into practice.

Design exhibition

The “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Design Exhibition” is now being held at the Museum of Contemporary Art & Planning Exhibition and runs through May 15.

The exhibition brings together hundreds of works by more than 100 of the most well-known designers in the region with the aim to showcase and reflect on the links between design and the bay area, cities, economics, culture, life and other aspects through exhibitions, academic forums and designer exchanges.

Dates: Until May 15

Hours: 10 a.m-5 p.m., closed Monday

Tower running

Ping An International Finance Center (PAFC), Shenzhen’s highest skyscraper, will hold a tower running event May 20.

Sports enthusiasts born between May 20, 1968 and May 20, 2000 are welcome to apply for climbing the 541-meter high mega-tall skyscraper in the half route (65 floors) or the whole route (116 floors). The whole route has 3,201 steps. Drinking water and first aid will be provided on certain floors.

The champion will be awarded 1,200 euros (US$1,448) in cash, runner-up 800 euros, second runner-up 600 euros, third runner-up 400 euros, before tax. Male and female runners will be awarded respectively.

Time: 1:30 p.m., May 20

Fee: 180 yuan (including insurance and a running kit)
