A MAN who was suspected of killing his colleague and a jobseeker at a factory in Fuyong, Bao’an District, has been confirmed dead in a reservoir in Bao’an District.
Police said in a release Monday evening that they were looking for the body of the suspect.
Early on Monday morning, two security guards on patrol near Lixin Reservoir became suspicious of a man riding a bike. The man looked extremely tired and his eyes were bloodshot. When the two guards approached to question him, they saw three knives in a yellow bag hanging from the bike’s handlebars.
The man was startled and began to run. During the chase, the man jumped into Lixin Reservoir, but soon disappeared in the water after struggling for several seconds.
Police confirmed the tools on the bike were the same that were used in the attack that killed two women in an electronics factory in Fuyong Subdistrict on May 8.
The attack happened at around 8 a.m., after the suspect, Zhou, 36, who was an employee of the factory, had a dispute over compensation for an on-the-job injury with an employee in the human resources department at the factory surnamed Wang. Zhou attacked Wang and a female jobseeker surnamed He, before fleeing the factory. The two victims were pronounced dead by doctors at the scene.
Police released photos of Zhou after he escaped in a blue long-sleeve shirt and grayish white trousers. (Han Ximin) |
