    2018-05-17  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A Hong Kong customs officer shows reporters (not in the picture) how smugglers concealed goods in the battery compartment in the back of an electric vehicle (EV) at the border with Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint yesterday. Hong Kong customs announced yesterday that it had busted a smuggling ring that attempted to illegally transport goods by hiding them in the battery compartments of EVs. Five suspects were arrested and HK$8 million (US$1 million) worth of goods, including 1,576 smartphones, 228 smart watches and 45 solid-state drives, were seized.China News Service
