Comments on ‘The Things I Wish My Dad Knew About Me Before He Died’
    2018-05-23  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

When I was 11, I didn’t know how I could suddenly be so cynical.

When I was 11, I didn’t know why my friends suddenly started competing with each other all the time.

When I was 11, I didn’t know why everyone suddenly attached great importance to grades, and why there was a lot of pressure on me to obtain good grades.

When I was 11, I was puzzled and stubborn, still a little girl, but kept claiming to be old enough to make the choices which she thought was right.

During that period of time, my parents used to argue with me almost every day. The fuse to the explosions could be anything. We all had a bad temper.

The worst “war” broke out because of my failure in the monthly exam. I was suffering from the results and the destruction of my self-esteem. I got much angrier than before and yelled at them. All the miserable things rushed out of my mouth.

It all ended in silence eventually. That night they sat on my bed, beside me. We chatted and laughed until my tears were gone with those rotten memories. I hugged my mom’s arms and fell asleep soundly. That’s all because they kissed my cheek, whispering “I’m always on your side.”

As Taylor Swift sings, “I have an excellent father. His strength is making me stronger. Daddy’s smart and mom is the prettiest lady in the whole wide world.” We always have glitters in our parents’ eyes, and so do they. That’s the power of family. What we only need is to believe in the magic and power, and we shall never do things that bring guilt and regret. I just want to have a chance to say to my parents, “I love you to the moon and back.”
