Park opens

LUOTIAN Forest Park in Bao’an District opened to the public recently after two years of construction, offering a new choice for activities.

The country park at the border with Dongguan covers 436 hectares and features hiking, sightseeing and popular science education.

It has five entrances and the park road runs 8.8 kilometers. The park has a 9-km hiking trail, a 5-km trail to the peak and eight lakes and ponds.

Visitors driving to the park can exit at Songgang from Nanguang Expressway and drive along Luoxiang Road and Xiangshan Boulevard.

Litchi harvest

IT is expected to be a bumper year for litchi harvest thanks to the fine weather.

The price for litchis from Hainan Province on the Shenzhen market is 21-24 yuan (US$3.29-3.76) per 500 grams. Litchis grown in Shenzhen will be on the market in the middle of June.

Couple caught

A MAN surnamed Tang and his wife, identified as Liang, were both caught by officers with Yanluo Police Station in Bao’an District for involvement in a burglary.

On May 9, police received a report from a victim surnamed Xie, saying she was cut on her hand, and had her mobile phones and cash stolen from her home.

The burglar had his face covered, Xie said. After a three-day investigation, Tang and Liang were caught in Dongguan.

The investigation showed Liang was dissatisfied with Xie, her employer’s human resources supervisor, as Liang thought Xie had lied to her in the job interview and quit the job after working for only five days.

She then instigated Tang to rob Xie with a fruit knife to teach her a lesson.

The couple has been criminally detained.

Fugitive caught

A 56-YEAR-OLD man surnamed Fu who had been on the run for 15 years was caught in Shenzhen and transferred to Hunan police.

Fu illegally raised 320 million yuan for his business in 1997, but he went into heavy debt after his business went bankrupt and was sentenced to life in jail for illegal fund-raising in 1998.

In 2003, Fu escaped from jail while taking a medication and started his fugitive life in Hunan and Guangdong with the ID information of a man surnamed Yang.

On May 17, police received a clue and arrested Fu in a rented apartment near Guangmingcheng High-Speed Railway Station.
