Police ready for suspects at concerts
    2018-05-24  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

POLICE in Luoyang city, Henan Province, announced Tuesday on Weibo that they were “ready” for fugitives’ “arrival” at Jacky Cheung’s concert in July after three men had been nabbed at the pop star’s concerts over the past two months.

The first arrest took place in April at a concert by Cheung in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, where police identified the suspect involved in an economic crime with facial recognition cameras. The second arrest was at a stadium in Ganzhou, another city in the province, during one of another Jacky’s concerts on May 5.

Then came the latest arrest in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, at Cheung’s concert Sunday, also by facial recognition technology.

Jacky Cheung, 56, a well-known Hong Kong singer, has been on a world tour since 2016, and has a huge following in the Chinese mainland.

With the arrests, Cheung was dubbed by Chinese netizens as “natural enemy of fugitives.” The arrest scenarios at concerts set off memes circulating on the Internet. (China Daily)
