SZ’s 1st intl. education expert studio set up
    2018-05-25  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

BAO’AN International Education Expert Studio, the first of its kind in Shenzhen, was inaugurated May 2 at the opening ceremony of the 2018 Bao’an-Richmond International Education Exchange Program and Greater Bay International Education Principal Forum.

Richmond is a coastal city located in the Canadian province of British Columbia. With an estimated population of some 219,000 as of 2017, Richmond has 10 secondary schools and 38 elementary schools.

Bruce Beairsto, Richmond’s former superintendent of schools and currently an adjunct professor at Simon Fraser University, will host the studio. He is a prominent figure behind the education cooperation between Bao’an and Richmond.

The studio aims to bring into full play the exemplary role of high-end talents and bridge regular educational exchanges between the two areas so as to promote the internationalization of Bao’an education.

Also at the ceremony, six Bao’an schools announced to establish sistership with six counterparts in Richmond.

Education cooperation between Bao’an and Richmond began in June 2012. Over the years, Canadian educators have been invited to give classes to teachers in Bao’an and local teachers have been sent to Richmond to receive training. A total of 75 Canadian teachers have been introduced to teach in Bao’an schools. Last November, a delegation of the Bao’an education bureau paid a visit to Richmond. Both parties signed an MOU on education cooperation, agreeing to set up the studio and sistership schools.
