SPEAKING of President Xi Jinping’s initiative in building a global community with a shared future, Ahmad Jahangeer, a member of the National Assembly from Mauritius, said he admired how the Communist Party of China (CPC) adapts its missions in different eras and progresses with the times.

The Mauritian congressman was one of the nearly 500 participants that attended the ongoing series of forums called the Communist Party of China in Dialogue with World Political Parties High-level Meeting, which commenced yesterday morning.

While on-record with media outlets at the Wuzhou Guest House, Jahangeer commented that China is doing very well in adapting Marxism to socialism with Chinese characteristics and adapting to global conditions in-stride.

“President Xi Jinping has a global vision for humanity, for the whole world, and everyone in the world can get something good out of this,” said Jahangeer. He thanked Chinese leaders’ contributions to making the world closer by pursuing mutually beneficial means.

The congressman said that Mauritius’ population is made up of a large portion of people of Asian descent, so cooperation with Asian countries have always been considered essential and gone smoothly.

The African country has also designated special regions for attracting Asian investment, according to Jahangeer.

“The Chinese Government is helping Mauritius develop. For example, the Chinese Government is providing us with air quality monitoring devices to help monitor pollution, and a Chinese enterprise is also helping us with equipment for testing water to ensure water quality,” said Jahangeer.

The congressman also shared that tourism is increasingly becoming a sector in which China and Mauritius will collaborate as more and more Chinese newlyweds choose to spend their honeymoons in Mauritius.

When talking about Mauritius’ cooperation with Shenzhen, the congressman said that Shenzhen and Port Louis, Mauritius’ capital city, have close relations in many aspects such as green energy industries, medical cooperation and environmental protection projects.
