关注联合国可持续发展目标,深圳青年学子在行动 Zhang Yu JeniZhang13@163.com Facing the global economic, social, climatic and environmental problems, what can university students do? On May 25, a special meetup jointly organized by Open FIESTA of Tsinghua University Graduate School at Shenzhen, the Center for Research and Interdisciplinarity (CRI), and Chaihuo Makers Education was held in Nanshan District. Four groups of college students from different disciplines designed four projects in five months and put forward their own solutions to realizing UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Two of these projects will be presented in Paris this summer. The four projects focusing on three SDGs, namely “Life on Land,” “Good Health and Well-being,” and “Sustainable Cities and Communities,” have attracted a lot of students, teachers and scientists interested in participating. In addition, the projects presented this time were the improved versions of their prototypes showcased in a five-day “Learning by Doing × SDGs” workshop held by the organizers in late January. Joel Chevrier, a professor of CRI in Paris, has collaborated with the students on all of the projects. As a mentor, he noted that the students had sparked some new ideas and explored new methods during the process. “It is very important that students communicate with their tutors and analyze the projects together. They experiment and analyze them in depth, but the termination of a project doesn’t mean failure. They have learned some knowledge, skills and methodology in the process,” said Chevrier. The projects were also directly related to iSDG, a premiere global student meetup that aims to connect and engage young people worldwide to propose innovative ideas for SDGs. |
