Narcotics seized

POLICE in Southwest China’s Yunnan Province said yesterday that they have seized over 40 kg of methamphetamine and detained two suspects in a cross-border drug trafficking case.

The suspects agreed to transport the drugs from Myanmar to Kunming, the provincial capital, for 50,000 yuan (US$7,800) in May.

Fire put out

A FOREST fire that lasted for five days in North China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region was put out yesterday morning, local authorities said.

The fire started Friday in the Hanma National Nature Reserve in the northern area of the Greater Hinggan Mountains, and spread to neighboring Heilongjiang Province by Sunday afternoon. It was put out at around 10 a.m. yesterday.
