KIM JONG UN, chairman of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) and chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), arrived in Singapore yesterday, Singapore’s Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan said in a message on Twitter. “Welcomed Chairman Kim Jong Un, who has just arrived in Singapore,” the foreign minister said in the message. Kim is in Singapore for the summit with U.S. President Donald Trump, which will be held Tuesday. Meanwhile, Trump said Saturday that he will attend the upcoming meeting with Kim with “positive spirit.” Describing his talks in Singapore with Kim as entering “unknown territory,” Trump told reporters before his early departure from the G7 summit in Quebec city, Canada, that he really feels confident. Calling his Asian trip a “mission of peace,” Trump told reporters, “I think it’s gonna work very well.” However, he cautioned that it will be “a process” when it comes to denuclearization. Trump revealed that the U.S. team had worked “very well” with the representatives from Pyongyang during the bilateral preparatory talks for the summit. (Xinhua) |
