With broccoli being packed full of antioxidants* and not enough Australians consuming their leafy greens, experts believe that adding a specially formulated* broccoli powder to coffee will help boost people’s health. Research conducted by CSIRO found that 51 percent of Australians were not consuming the recommended amount of fruit and vegetables per day and they hope the powder will make it easier for those who are on the go to get their nutrients*. “Two tablespoons of broccoli powder is equivalent to one serve of vegetables,” says CSIRO food scientist Maryann Augustin. While one Melbourne cafe has already started incorporating the powder into their coffees, experts at the CSIRO say that people can use the powder in many different ways. Smoothies, baked goods and soups are a few options to consider if wanting to mix the super food with your daily meals. While broccoli coffee sounds unappealing to most, CSIRO said the beverage does not actually taste like broccoli. It is added to the pulled espresso shot, followed with steaming hot milk and then topped off with more powder. With broccoli including nutrients such as vitamins A, B1, potassium*, zinc* and magnesium*, the powder may be the answer to many health deficiencies*. (SD-Agencies) |
