Chen Xiaochun 654789759@qq.com THE 16th China Watch & Clock Summit Forum gathered experts in the field to talk about the development, branding and culture of watches and clocks Wednesday afternoon. “If we review the history of human civilization, we see that precision timing instruments, from the navigation clock to pocket watch, mechanical watch and atomic clock, all reflect the dream of the human being,” said Zhu Hongren, executive vice president of the China Enterprise Confederation and former chief engineer at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. According to Luo Min, director of the Industrial Culture Development Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the watch and clock industry is not only closely related to people’s daily lives, its high-precision technology has also been serving other fields, including aerospace, communication, arms, nuclear power, petrochemistry, equipment and electromechanical industries. Luo said that in the new era, China’s watch and clock industry should ride the new trends of digitalization, networking and intellectualization. Another point is to build up international brands. Actually, some key Chinese firms in the industry are equipped with the most advanced mechanical watch manufacturing techniques, but their brand awareness and recognition are still quite low. In addition, Luo stressed the importance of the spirit of craftsmanship, saying that the precision manufacturing industry is one of the industries that most require it. Luo also stated that among the top 10 watch and clock enterprises in China, six are based in Shenzhen. |
