After reading ‘Storm Troopers’

The news report “Storm Troopers” tells a story about Coasties who take charge of rescue at sea.

A crew of 12 sailors happened to be isolated in a life raft by a storm. Receiving relevant information about the accident, four fighters set out to rescue the crew. The Coasties risked drowning in the water and reached the life raft after hard efforts. A fighter patiently and firmly repeated his words to reassure the survivors that everything went fine and they would be okay anyway. Eventually, the Coasties managed to get them onto their helicopter and bring them back safe.

Taking their own life into no account, the Coasties are real heroes, no doubt.

No matter in the United States or China or somewhere else, we all have such heroes.

When I’m writing these words, out of my window, the firecrackers are being set — today is the Spring Festival, a time when we are supposed to relax and reunite with our family. However, there are still numerous soldiers, firefighters, police officers and many other people who stick to their positions to ensure our safety and happiness. Likewise, they are real heroes as well.

Think about the severe earthquake in Sichuan Province in 2008; think about countless droughts and floods which may have taken lots of lives away. They were all defeated by our PLA, our heroes, while many of them lost their lives.

So, real heroes are real; they are in reality; they are everywhere!

Next time you are on your way to have a feast with your relatives or friends, please cast a respectful eye to salute the safeguard standing on the street in the cold wind.
