Project of smart parking wins award
    2018-06-28  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A PROJECT for finding smart and comprehensive solutions to parking in cities initiated by a Shenzhen design company won the second prize at the 2017 China Award for Science and Technology in Construction, according to the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development recently.

The China Award for Science and Technology in Construction is a top national award issued to construction projects that have contributed to the country’s construction industry since 2002.

The winning entity is the Shenzhen Urban Transport Planning Center (SUTPC). The project was assigned by multiple government departments including the housing ministry, the Ministry of Public Security and the Shenzhen Municipal Government with an aim to solve parking difficulties in urban areas.

It took the company and several research centers five years from May 2011 to June 2016 to conduct research and search for solutions until the project’s completion.

Through much collective wisdom and effort, the project has churned out solutions to multiple parking-related problems and provided smart parking solutions by building multi-level parking lots, incorporating smart phones, parking navigation and online payments into their work.

The comprehensive project incorporates several cutting-edge technologies to assist car parking such as big data analysis, mobile telecommunications and algorithms.

The project has already been mentioned in more than 10 national-level government documents and guidelines regarding smart parking.

Some of the solutions are being implemented in 47 cities including Shenzhen, Wuhan and Tianjin.
