TCM research institute to be built in Pingshan
    2018-07-09  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A SET of cooperative deals were signed Thursday between the Pingshan District Government, Macao University of Science and Technology (MUST) and Wellsoon, a Shenzhen TCM company, to build a research institute for traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in Pingshan.

The cooperative deals were inked by representatives from the three parties under the witness of Ho Hau-wah, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, together with other officials at the Wellsoon TCM base in Pingshan.

The signing of the deals was a major step that Pingshan had taken to actively take part in building the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, according to the district government.

The TCM research base to be built in Pingshan aims to become an international institute with the ability to apply high-tech to medication. It will also focus on international cooperation and training.

Tao Yongxin, Pingshan’s Party chief and head of the Pingshan government, said that Pingshan owns the first batch of national bases of biomedical industries and has made a series of biomedical achievements.

With the Shenzhen-Macao TCM research institute settling in Pingshan, according to Tao, the district will further support the development of biomedical industries.

Jiang Zhihong, MUST’s vice president, said in his address that the TCM research institute will closely focus on national and regional development strategies of TCM.

The university will also offer great support for the research institute to conduct research, utilize technology, innovate and cultivate talents of TCM, Jiang said.

Song Gang, chairman of Wellsoon, said the company will further invest on R&D in TCM and contribute to public health care.

The delegation led by Ho visited the TCM company’s production base after the signing ceremony and later toured BYD, a manufacturer of electric automobiles.
