Driver, owner get suspended sentences
    2018-07-11  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A CAR owner named Huang was sentenced to one month in jail with a two-month reprieve for allowing his friend to drive knowing he was intoxicated, according to a verdict handed down by a Longgang court recently.

The driver, Luo, was Huang’s employer and got one month in jail with a three-month reprieve. Luo was also fined 3,000 yuan (US$452). The two were not allowed to drink in public areas during the probation period.

After having drinks at a dinner in Longgang District on the night of Jan. 19, Huang knew that he couldn’t drive and called the driver of their company to drive them home. As the driver would not arrive for 10 minutes, Huang’s employer Luo volunteered to drive, saying that he hadn’t drunk much and that the company was not far from the restaurant.

Huang gave his keys to Luo, who was later intercepted by police on Pingji Boulevard in Pinghu Subdistrict, Longgang District. Luo’s blood test showed his blood alcohol content had reached 111 milligrams per 100 milliliters.
