    2018-07-11  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

The 19th Futian Science and Technological Festival for Youth and the second STEM (“Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Education Carnival opened at Futian Qiaoxiang Foreign Language School on July 2.

Thousands of school principals and faculty members from Guangdong Province, Hong Kong and Macao as well as teachers and students from Futian District participated in the event.

As the last stop on the China STEM Education Development Conference tour and with the theme of “Futian education empowers future in the era of AI,” the festival aims to show the attendees Futian’s achievements and objectives in science, technology and education.

More than 600 students from over 80 schools in Futian participated in nine on-site categories of the innovation competition including “3-D printing free space creation — I love Shenzhen,” “F1 at school STEAM challenge,” “DI destination imagine,” “underwater robots,” and more.

Since 2000, Futian has been hosting the youth science and technological festival, which is open to over 80 primary and middle schools in the district. Thanks to its continuous efforts, Futian has become a leader in Shenzhen, Guangdong and even the country in terms of innovative education and has won titles including “Scientific and Technological Education Base for Youth in Guangdong Province” and “China’s Pilot District for Science Education.”
