Shenzhen Youth Literature Creation Competition starts
    2018-07-11  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

The second Shenzhen Youth Literature Creation Competition has officially started according to a press conference by the organizing committee at Bao’an Xixiang Haiwan Middle School recently.

The contest is taking submissions from June 1 until October 30. Participants should be high school students and junior high school students in Shenzhen; submissions from students from vocational and technical schools are also accepted.

Apart from youth literature that conveys positive attitudes, the contest this year also invites non-fiction writing about the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up to encourage students to write about their parents’ entrepreneurship experiences, family life, and chapters of personal growth. Submissions should be 2,000 to 200,000 Chinese characters in length.

Submissions will be collected by schools or submitted to the organizing committee in person. The contest has set up first, second and third prizes as well as excellence awards for high school and junior high school groups. In addition, the “excellent organization award” will recognize a teacher who actively taught and supported students. After the contest, the winning works will be published and lectures by writers will be held by the organizing committee in schools.

The success of the first Shenzhen Youth Literature Creation Competition in 2017 has spawned a large number of outstanding original youth literature works, and a group of young writers with good literacy have emerged. After the publication of the contest winners’ works “Sunshine All the Way,” teachers and students have received extensive praise. This time, the competition aims to get more kids to participate and to increase the quality of the submissions.
