Cats run for cover seconds before quake
    2018-07-12  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

INCREDIBLE footage shows just how sensitive cats are to their surroundings.

In the amazing footage two dozen cats are able to tell an earthquake is coming even before the first tremors shake the room.

Filmed in a cattery in earthquake-prone Osaka, Japan, the footage shows about two dozen cats lounging around a room designed for them to play in.

Some sit in ceiling-height towers while others sleep on mats on the floor. The left side of the room is lined with cages.

Then, without warning, the cats simultaneously jump up and look around in terror.

Moments later, the room begins to shake and a booming sound can be heard echoing across the city outside as the earthquake hits.

Filmed on June 6 this year, the footage shows how cats are able to feel even the tiniest tremors in the area around them.

The felines bounce off the walls in terror as the room shakes, knocking objects from surfaces.

The video is believed to have been recorded in Osaka.

On June 17 another earthquake hit Osaka, registering 6.1 on the Richter scale and killing five.
