HUIZHOU AIRPORT TO SERVE AS SZ’S SECOND AIRPORT
    2018-07-13  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE in-service airport in Huizhou bordering Shenzhen is set to become Shenzhen’s second airport, the Guangdong Provincial Reform and Development Commission has said.

It was announced in a recent letter in response to Shenzhen delegates to the provincial legislature who made proposals at this year’s annual meeting of the Guangdong legislature to promote links between Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Huizhou at the backdrop of the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The province’s chief planning agency said the Huizhou airport, which mostly services passengers from Huizhou, eastern Shenzhen, Shanwei and Heyuan, will be expanded, and shuttle bus services between Shenzhen and Huizhou will be improved.

A high-speed railway will be built to link Shenzhen, Huizhou and Shanwei, according to the letter.

The agency said Guangdong authorities are considering opening a shipping line between Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Huizhou and an express cruise service between the three cities.

As to a proposal on building a bridge between Dapeng Peninsula in eastern Shenzhen and Hong Kong, the agency said that determining the feasibility of such a project requires further research.
