Loan death

A 24-YEAR-OLD man surnamed Zhong recently committed suicide in Longhua District as he was being pursued by loan sharks over debts, according to his family.

Zhong’s cousin forced open the door to his room after he had lost contact for days and found Zhong lying dead on the floor. In the week before his death, Zhong’s family received frequent text messages, pressuring them to pay back Zhong’s debts. The calls came from different places, and when the family members called back no one would answer.

Longhua police are investigating.
