City has introduced 228 medical teams
    2018-07-17  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE number of top medical teams introduced to Shenzhen has reached 228, and the number of top-level public hospitals will double in a decade, the Shenzhen Evening News reported, citing an official with the city’s health-care authority.

According to Luo Lexuan, director of Shenzhen Municipal Health and Family Planning Commission, the Sanming Pro-ject launched in 2014 to improve the city’s medical resources and public health has introduced 228 top medical teams to settle in Shenzhen.

Of the renowned doctors and medical teams introduced by the Sanming Project, 37 are from other countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia, said Luo.

Some of the medical teams have set up expert clinics to give advice on difficult diagnosis and provide high-level medical services. They also help cultivate medical talents and promote cooperation in scientific research, which drives the development of health care in Shenzhen.

With the help of these medical teams, the innovation capabilities of local hospitals have largely improved, according to the report.

Apart from introducing top-level medical teams, about 319 medical workers have received training at well-established international medical institution over the past three years, and hundreds of high-quality medical conferences have been held each year.

Some newly built public hospitals have set up partnerships with well-known universities or medical institutions from home and abroad.

The University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital, which opened five years ago, has become the youngest top-level hospital in Guangdong Province. Shenzhen Hospital of Southern Medical University has become the first air rescue base in Shenzhen since opening in 2015. (Cui Chenxin)
