Changchun-made rabies vaccine not used in SZ: CDC
    2018-07-19  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SHENZHEN Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention stated Tuesday that no fake rabies vaccines made by a company in Changchun had been found being used in Shenzhen, sznews.com reported.

The State Drug Administration released an announcement Sunday that a batch of rabies vaccines (Vero Cell) produced by Changchun Changsheng Life Sciences Ltd. were counterfeit.

Despite the fake batch of rabies vaccines having not yet been put into the market, the company recalled all batches of valid rabies vaccines produced previously to ensure safety.

Experts say patients who haven’t finished all of the injections can use vaccines produced by other companies for follow-up injections. As for patients who have already finished their vaccination, they are not advised to get another injection.

Rabies is a deadly disease that is spread by the rabies virus and causes inflammation of the brain. In most cases, symptoms of this disease occur within a year of being bitten by an infected animal.

Rabies is spread when an infected animal scratches or bites another animal. All mammals, including dogs, cats, foxes and bats, are likely to be infected.
