Han’s Laser enters list of China’s top 100 software companies
    2018-07-20  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

HAN’S Laser Technology Industry Group Co., a well known laser machinery provider for industrial manufacturing based in Bao’an, ranked 25th on the list of the 2017 Top 100 Software Enterprises in China, which was announced June 29 in Beijing during the 22nd China International Software Expo.

Shenzhen-based Huawei Technologies Co., the world’s largest maker of telecommunications network gear and the No. 3 smartphone supplier, came in first on the list for 16 consecutive years, followed by Internet giant Tencent Holdings Ltd., best known for its WeChat messaging service and gaming, and Internet search behemoth Baidu Inc.

The total profit of China’s top 100 software firms reached 283 billion yuan (US$42.31 billion) last year, a year-on-year increase of 30.8 percent from a year ago, and these 100 firms recorded a growth rate 15 percent higher than the average level of China’s software industry.

The top 100 software firms account for no more than 0.3 percent of the total number of the industry. However, they contribute 19 percent to the industry in terms of revenue and 40 percent in terms of profit.

The software industry is playing an increasingly important role in boosting supply-side structural reform, fostering new driving forces for growth and promoting the integration of the manufacturing industry and the Internet.

The revenue generated by the 2017 top 100 software firms totaled 1.06 trillion yuan, an increase of 21.4 percent over the previous year, higher than the average growth rate of 7.5 percent for the software industry in China, according to official figures.

Among the 100 major software firms, 17 firms’ revenue from software developments exceeds 10 billion yuan and 34 firms’ tops 5 billion yuan.

This year’s top 100 software firms are expected to have five characteristics. First, their economies of scale are steadily increasing. Second, they have achieved prominent results in research and development and innovation. Third, the business models of the industry are consistently improving. Fourth, more and more companies have muscled into the international market. Fifth, the software and information technology service industries are becoming more integrated. (Yang Mei)
