BAO’AN is playing an exemplary role for Shenzhen in promoting high-end international education, which tops the district government’s agenda for this year, Bao’an Daily has reported. The district has taken the lead in rolling out rules pertaining to foreign teachers, such as employing foreign teachers for disciplines other than English, setting up an international education expert workshop, and conducting regular trainings for foreign teachers, the report said. Cooperation with Richmond, Canada, has contributed remarkably to the advancement of Bao’an’s international education. In the past five years, Canadian educators have been invited to give lectures to Bao’an teachers, while the district’s education authorities have organized local teachers to receive training in Canada. A Sino-Canadian English-teaching experimental class has also been opened. The district government has also reached out to Germany, concluding the Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement with IB and TINC of Germany on Sept. 12, 2016. The German sides agreed to conduct in-depth cooperation with Bao’an Vocational Technical School in major and curriculum construction, teacher evaluation, and teacher training and exchanges. Bao’an introduced 160 foreign teachers in 2017, covering all public schools and kindergartens across the district. More than 50 teach courses other than English. Five Bao’an primary and middle schools established sistership with foreign counterparts in May.(SD News) |
