Guimiao Road to be smarter after renovation
    2018-07-25  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE renovation of Guimiao Road, an important link between Qianhai and the rest of the city, will be completed in 2020.

The city started the renovation in December 2014 to strengthen Qianhai’s links to the city. The major part of the 4.9-km project, the section between Nanshan Boulevard and Yueliangwan Boulevard, goes underground.

The road, consisting of both above-ground and underground sections, will be a smart road integrating road signs, surveillance cameras and a traffic directive system utilizing the boards mounted on lampposts, through which authorities can share traffic information. Photography and video-recording technologies will be used to automatically identify, collect, upload and report unusual events, such as traffic accidents, on the road. Traffic facilities, such as LED boards with bus information and roadmaps for pedestrians, will be installed near bus stops.

As a key project in the city, the road was renovated in two phases.

The section between Zhenhai Road and Nanhai Boulevard was built by Shenzhen Metro Co., along with the development of Metro Line 11. So far, the underground part in Qianhai has been completed, and half of the section between Yueliangwan Boulevard and Nanhai Boulevard has been completed. The main structure between Nanhai Boulevard and Keyuan Flyover on Binhai Boulevard is more than 55 percent complete. (Han Ximin)
