Railway line resumed

A RAILWAY line in western China resumed operation Saturday, 16 days after rain-triggered landslides disrupted its service.

The Baoji-Chengdu railway line resumed full service at 5 p.m., according to China Railway Xi’an Group Co., Ltd.

8 dead, 3 injured

EIGHT people were confirmed dead and three others injured Friday after the top of a lounge bridge in East China’s Zhejiang Province collapsed, local authorities said.

Heatwave to continue

CHINA’S meteorologists yesterday renewed a yellow alert for high temperatures as a persistent heatwave continued to scorch some parts of China.

Vast areas of central and southern China, including Chongqing, Hubei and Fujian, will see temperatures ranging from 37 to 39 degrees Celsius.
