Stool-making workshop in Shekou
    2018-07-30  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Making mazha (马扎) is a traditional handicraft. The mini stool with the crossing legs as a support is tied up with canvas or ropes. It can be folded and is easy to carry.

Henny van Nistelrooy, a Dutch designer, will hold a mazha stool weaving workshop this Saturday. In the workshop, you will learn choosing colors, selecting ropes and weaving. Through making your own mazha, participants can be guided to explore the process from designing to weaving.

Van Nistelrooy received a master’s degree from Royal College of Art. He has worked in many design studios, including Tord Boontje, and later set up his own Henny van Nistelrooy Studio. He is obsessed with exploring the process of designing and molding and is always exploring new technical means and promoting the development of design as well as manufacturing.

Registration closes when full. Cancelling beyond this time will not be refunded the registration fee. A group can have a maximum of three attendees, with one mazha for one group. Each group can get two free tickets for the upcoming new exhibition at the Main Gallery of Design Society.
