ACA certificate

SHENZHEN International Airport announced that it successfully passed the certification of Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) recently, gaining recognition from Airports Council International (ACI), the globally acknowledged professional institution, for managing carbon emissions.

Currently, the only certified airports in China are Beijing Capital International Airport and Shenzhen International Airport. There are currently 240 airports around the world with ACA certificates.

Luohu TCM hospital

WITH a history of more than 50 years, Luohu Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital will be relocated to a new address in the Liantang area of Luohu District at the end of the year.

The Luohu District Government has invested nearly 1.2 billion yuan (US$176 million) in building a new venue that is 12 times larger than the previous hospital. Located at the foot of Wutong Mountain, the hospital will have 400 beds in its preliminary stage, accommodating 15,000 patients a year.

Diesel smuggling

SHENZHEN Customs busted eight diesel dens and seized more than 110,000 liters of smuggled diesel recently during a special action near Chiwan Metro Station in Nanshan District.

Customs officers and law enforcers also impounded two trucks and seized some pumps and oil tanks. The diesel was transported in container trucks with both Hong Kong and Guangdong license plates.

The truck drivers modified the oil tanks and filled them with diesel in Hong Kong before crossing the border and unloading the diesel at the dens. The smuggled diesel was sold at nearby construction sites, oil depots and small gas stations below market rates.

Fugitive caught

A JAYWALKER caught by Luohu police last week was confirmed to be a fugitive on the run.

The man surnamed Wang refused to provide his ID after he was caught on Leyuan Road at noon July 24. However, police officers used a facial recognition device and confirmed he was a fugitive wanted online by Yingtan police in Jiangxi Province since 2015 for economic crimes.

The case is under further investigation.

Motorcycle racing

SHENZHEN traffic police impounded three refitted cars and 14 refitted motorcycles for racing on the road at night in the Sanzhoutian area in Yantian District last week.

Two drivers were caught driving under the influence of alcohol. The case is still under investigation.
