Drugs in beverage packaging emerge
    2018-08-02  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

WHILE everybody knows drugs are dangerous, one can hardly distinguish between drugs in beverage packaging and common drinks. In recent days, police in Guangming busted two gangs of drug peddlers and seized a batch of new drugs disguised as a variety of drinks.

Guangming police received a tipoff July 4, saying some people had been using drugs in the district for a long time. The police tracked down four people suspected of using drugs in a car and seized nine bottles of drugs that were packaged as “Ji Shuang” and “Bingtang Xueli” drinks.

The four were taken back to the police station for further investigation. During the questioning, two of them confessed the source of the drugs, which helped the police target and bust a gang of drug peddlers selling the new type of drugs in the district July 11.

So far, six suspects have been detained by Guangming police and another suspect is still at large.

In another development, a 21-year-old surnamed Peng, who is a suspected peddler of another type of drug camouflaged as a drink named “Ku Ge,” was caught by Guangming police July 14. A box of the drugs was seized on the spot.

Peng disclosed clues about other peddlers after an interrogation, and police detained another five suspects in a garage July 15. Five boxes of “Ku Ge” drugs were seized. The police later found 43 boxes of drugs in another garage. (A Ding)
