Trademark lawsuit
    2018-08-02  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

TENCENT Technology (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd. and Tencent Computer System Co. Ltd. have accused two companies of illegally using the wordmark “Douzhanshen” without permission when advertising their games.

Having registered the name as a trademark, Tencent uses the wordmark for “Douzhanshen,” one of its famous online games.

The two defendants are the developer and the operator of another online game. In order to enhance popularity, the operator set the wordmark as a keyword, linking it to their games on search engines.

Previously, the operator was fined 250,000 yuan (US$36,600) for similar behavior and promised not to repeat the offense. Considering the repetition of the infringement, the court imposed an additional fine on the operator for the economic losses.
