Residents buy lots of books
    2018-08-03  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SHENZHEN is among the top three Chinese cities in terms of total sales volume of books, which includes both physical books and e-books, for the first half of 2018, according to a report released by e-commerce giant Amazon, the Shenzhen Economic Daily reported Thursday.

Shenzhen came in third in the ranking, following Beijing and Shanghai. Additionally, Shenzhen took second place in the ranking of per capita purchases of Kindle e-books.

According to a national reading report published by Amazon China this April, a combination of paper reading and e-reading has become mainstream in the country. More than half of the interviewees said they had read both paper books and e-books simultaneously in the past year.

The sales data provided by Amazon China also showed that books on economics and management were the most popular in the first six months of 2018.

Meanwhile, the simultaneous publication of both paper version and electronic version of some key books is becoming a major trend in China’s publishing industry, and the variety of such books is also diversifying.
