River-treatment projects progressing

BY the end of June, 253 out of 262 river-treatment projects had been making progress or completed, accounting for 97 percent of the total and 2 percentage points higher compared with the end of March, according to the city’s environmental authority.

A total of 103 key projects were conducted in the Maozhou River area, including projects for sewage pipe networks, river renovation, sewage treatment facilities and pollutant source monitoring.

As of the end of June, 101 projects had been completed, accounting for 98 percent of the total. Two projects were lagging behind, accounting for 2 percent.

In the Shenzhen River area, 29 key projects had been implemented, including river renovation, sewage treatment facilities and sewage pipe networks. By the end of June, 25 projects had been making progress or completed, accounting for 86 percent, and three projects were behind schedule, accounting for 10 percent. One project was canceled due to the circumstances.

All 55 projects had been finished in the Guanlan River area by the end of June, including 24 projects for sewage pipe networks, six for river renovation, and 25 for sewage treatment facilities.

A total of 54 projects were conducted in the Longgang River area, including projects for sewage pipe networks, river renovation, and sewage treatment facilities. Fifty-three projects were finished, while one still lagged behind.

In the Pingshan River area, 21 projects have been conducted, including eight projects for sewage pipe networks, 11 for river renovation, one for sewage treatment facilities and one for pollution-monitoring facilities. By the end of June, 19 projects had been completed, accounting for 90 percent of the total. Two projects were behind schedule.

For the few projects that are lagging behind, relevant departments will be urged to catch up with the schedule as soon as possible, according to the environmental authority.
