3 rescued, 11 missing

A FISHING boat carrying 14 members overturned off East China’s Zhejiang Province on Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

Three of them were saved and another 11 remained missing when the accident was reported at 6 p.m. in Xiangshan County, Ningbo City, according to the county government.

The maritime and fisheries department of the county has sent multiple vessels to search for the missing, and fishery boats nearby have also been mobilized to join the rescue.

Yellow alert

THE National Meteorological Center (NMC) renewed a yellow alert yesterday as a heat wave continued in most parts of the country.

Yesterday, most areas south of the Yangtze River, as well as Liaoning, Hebei, Shandong, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Guangdong and Xinjiang saw temperatures reach 35-36 degrees Celsius, according to the NMC.

Some areas may see temperatures hit 39 degrees Celsius.

Drugs seized

POLICE in Southwest China’s Yunnan Province detained two drug traffickers and confiscated about 60 kilograms of methamphetamine, the local public security department announced Saturday.
