Unemployment rate

THE registered urban unemployment rate in Shenzhen was 2.26 percent in the first half of the year, 0.04 percentage points higher year on year, sources from the Shenzhen Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau showed.

The number of the newly employed between January and June was 35,877 in the first six months, an increase of 16.7 percent year on year.

Metro QR use

THE QR code service for Metro riders in Shenzhen had been used 1 million times by Friday, according to Tencent, which partnered with Shenzhen Metro Co. to offer the service three months ago.

The number of people registered to use the QR code has reached 6 million. According to Shenzhen Metro Co., all turnstiles at Metro stations will offer the QR scanning service before the end of the year.

Charity donations

SHENZHEN firms, institutions and individuals donated a total of 1.29 billion yuan (US$189 million) to charity organizations in Shenzhen and other parts of Guangdong Province during Guangdong Poverty Alleviation Day and Shenzhen Charity Month, which was launched June 29 and ended recently, sources from the Shenzhen Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau said.
