BANXUEGANG Science and Technology Park, located in the northern part of Bantian Subdistrict, Longgang District, will be expanded southward for further development, according to a decision by the city government at a recent meeting. Covering 22.18 square kilometers, the science and technology park is the core of Guangzhou-Shenzhen Science Corridor and home to dozens of well-known enterprises, including Huawei, Hasee, KTC and Huntkey. Ban-xuegang Science and Technology Park is facing a shortage of land for sustainable development. “The space for urban development and lagging public facilities can’t meet the development needs of high-tech companies like Huawei. By including the southern area of Bantian into the overall planning of Banyuegang Science and Technology Park, more public service facilities will be built in the area,” an official was quoted by the Shenzhen Economic Daily as saying. The expansion will also provide more land for industrial development, improve the regional competitiveness of the Bantian area and cultivate new economic growth points. According to the development plan, newly emerged information, cultural creation and financial services will be developed in the southern area, supplementing the high-tech industry in the north. Banxuegang Science and Technology Park, following the planned expansion, will serve as a model for the convergence of the science industry and urban development in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area with a cluster of world-class information and technology enterprises, and a highly efficient social management system.
